Dinosaur National Monument - June 1, 2014

Well it's hotter than a firecracker when we get up. We are pulling out this morning and heading north.  The drive from Moab along highway is very bleak; a contrast to the amazing scenery we have seen over the past couple weeks.  It's hot, dry and the sky is very hazy.
Good street names in Helper, Utah
It's a mining town....what can I say...

When I took these two pictures, a security guard comes running out to the truck saying "you can't photograph this plant". Weird....is there something they're trying to hide?

We're getting into oil country by the looks of things. We pass multitudes of oil wells pumping into tanks.  There is no identification on any of them and they are all identical.  There are many tanker trucks on the road obviously servicing these facilities.

We end our day at Dinosaur National Monument and camp in their Green River campground. It's beautiful; right on the river and so quiet.  After dinner we take a hike along the river just as the sun is beginning to set.

These are attack bunnies.  Twice we saw them chasing squirrels and the squirrels were scared.
