Jackson and Grand Teton National Park

OK, it's confirmed, we have a mouse in the trailer although I slept like a baby while Richard was up half the night trying to corral him. No luck!  Should have gone to Walmart last night to get a trap.

After fueling up and forgetting our brand new gas cap and then going back to get it, our engine light comes on. Why do things seem to happen in 3's?  Fortunately, we were within a half a block of a Chevy dealer.  Well it turns out that all it was was a fuse and Whisler Chev, Rock Springs, Wyoming replaced it and did a computer check on the engine for NO CHARGE! Whisler Chev you rock!!

The drive from Rock Springs to Pinedale is a high plain averaging around 7000'. It's like a prairie up there with ranches, etc.

We stopped at Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinedale and learned that they were trapping beavers in the mountains to supply the need for pelts to make men's hats. Once they started using silk the mountain men were no longer needed and probably became the scouts for the military and pioneers heading west.
I did not know that top hats were originally made from beaver hide.

We arrive in Jackson early in the afternoon and decide to set up camp for a couple of nights in Grand Teton National Park in their Gros Ventre Campground just 10 miles out of Jackson. We will do some exploring in the park and in town tomorrow.
Lots of elk antler sculptures.

There is a whole herd of mounted elk in the visitor centre in Jackson.

After a little walk through the campground, we light up a fire and roast some hotdogs and warm up some beans right in the can. You gotta love not having any power or water at your campsite. This is real camping🐻
Rough'n it.
A beautiful campground.

  1. Cool! I love how you are stopping at all those museums on the way. Better catch that mouse. Illegal to bring animals across the border without their papers ;)
