Driving to the canyons of Utah

We pulled out of Provo pretty earlier this morning as we are going to have a pretty long drive today. It's about a 400 km drive down to the canyon areas that we plan on visiting for the next few days.

A good place to generate power; lots of wind here.

What a pleasant surprise when we pull in to Fairview, Utah, a little community of about 2,800 people.  They have the most amazing museum just full of pioneer artifacts from the early settlers in the area beautifully displayed in an old school from the early century.  They even have a mammoth that was unearthed in the canyon close by.

The old school.

The mammoth that was found along with a 12 foot bear in the same hole it had fallen into.

They had so many old sewing machines along with looms and spinning machines. They were busy ladies back in those days.

And then if you needed a perm, here was the machine that was used. Looks more like a place to be executed!

We were told of a beautiful and old LDS temple in Manti so we took the opportunity to stop in their parking lot for our lunch.

The Manti Utah LDS Temple is the 5th temple to be built in the world and construction finished in May 1888.

It was a long drive today (May 22) and we have been bucking a head wind for much of our travels so when we finally arrive in Mount Carmel at the Best Western RV Park we are not even that upset that the wifi doesn't work and their pool and hot tub are closed. We manage to hook up to the restaurant next door and all is right with the world😊
