The Sawtooth Mountains

The drive south today has been pretty rugged with lots of climbing and twisting roads. We are following the Payette river for much of the way. It seems to be a big kayaking and bicycling area. We stop to watch some kayakers and Richard even helps to launch one of them down the slide into the river. Looks pretty exciting!

A slide around Banner Summit (7200 ')

I thought I would get just a little bit closer to the sign. 

We arrive at Sun Valley around 4:30 only to find out that one of our tires on the trailer is flat so we make the executive decision to drive to the closest tire shop in Hailey to get it fixed. This was not a good idea!  We not only shredded the tire but in the process we ruined the brake line and also the power to the slide out. 

I asked the guy if he could salvage the tire. 

So long story short, $260 in new tires later we set up camp for a couple of nights just out of Ketchum. We will be eating out tonight for sure!
